The ARFLI Colleges season is underway with some exciting developments for footy in the sector. The UCC and Maynooth University clubs are both back with a new influx of players and are training on Wednesday nights, and this year they’re joined by a new team, the CIT Saints, formed by National Team stalwart Paul Murphy.

Another exciting development is the inauguration of an Inter Varsity Championship which will take place at Maynooth in December. The three existing college clubs will all be taking part, but ARFLI would love to hear from Students, male or female in any college interested in forming a club in their own institution or who might be interested in playing in a combined colleges team. Anyone seeking details should contact ARFLI Third Level Office Eoin Ó Suileabhain.

The Inter Varsity will provide Irish Students with great preparation for the year’s main event, the AFL Europe Fitzpatrick Cup which will be hosted by the UCC Bombers in Cork for the second year in a row. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the first weekend in February of 2018 and will see the hosts welcoming teams from across Europe again in the hope of repeating the success of 2017.
